This is a fun, interesting story. It went fast for me. I am truly amazed at what the women and men who serve in our armed forces endure in overseas locations like Iraq and Afghanistan. Heidi does a great job describing the heat, the conditions and the environment. Hard to imagine dripping in sweat 24 hours a day... The story of her childhood, growing up and eventually meeting and marrying Jake is pretty cool. Thanks Heidi, for writing this book and a huge than you to both you and Jake from my family for serving and protecting this awesome country - USA.
Wow! I think I actually started sweating reading this book! Words cannot do justice for how wonderfully written "Honeymoon in Baghdad" is! As the author relives the struggles of love and war, you find yourself immersed in a way that makes you feel like you, too, are experiencing it! My heart pattered when reading about the love of a husband and wife and my adrenaline rushed as I read about their experience of living/fighting in a war zone together! Heidi Radkiewicz exemplifies what it means to have faith, strength, and smiles in the darkest of times. God bless this family, God bless our Veterans, and God bless this country that I love!
What an AMAZING story! I had to keep reminding myself that this is not fiction, but a real life story. Really puts things into perspective on what's important in life, how awesome it is to be an American, and that nothing is more important than family. I've never been in the military, but after reading about all of the things that this couple had to go through (while being newly married)....nothing less than amazing! Really fills you with a sense of pride for our country and for those people that serve to protect it. I loved this book, and you will too!!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! It is something that will appeal to both men and women as there is both a war aspect and a fantastic love story. The book offers such a unique perspective that most books about war do not offer as the readers get to join newlyweds as they experience the start of their marriage overseas in a war torn country. It was a good and quick read that made me both laugh and cry. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!
Closing the cover after reading the final chapter, I paused. Thinking to myself, this wasn’t some tale I had just read, this is someone’s intimate story of their life. Their life with the good, the bad, and the ugly. Beautifully written, and with each turn of the page leaving you wanting more. An amazing true American Hero story. Thank you both for your service and sharing this incredible story of love and war. Love truly conquers all.
I loved this book. The author has a very easy, relatable style of writing. She has a great way of painting a picture in your head without it being too wordy. It sucks you in and before you know it you are almost done with the book. This true story made me want to get to know this amazing couple, and makes me appreciate our service people all the more. It will make you laugh, cry, blush and be thankful. Two thumbs up!
A refreshing change from my usual taste in books (sci-fi, fantasy, horror, etc). The author provided enough detail to make it interesting and kept things moving throughout the story. Definitely worth reading!
