When you pick this book up, prepare to get an intimate, accurate, refreshing and endearing look into life in the Casamance, Senegal and Africa in general. While you are at it, you might as well pack and get ready to visit Simon, Khady and their lovely family in Abene, because you surely will fall in love with their story and personalities by the time you finish the book. Simon is the personification of wherever you find yourself...there you are so make the most and best of it! His journey is a must read for all book and Africa lovers. Bravo Simon, you did it again after an excellent first book! Well done!
I read Simon's first book prior to traveling to Senegal. This one I read after. I found myself laughing and remembering the interesting differences in culture that make his experience so special. I feel like Simon and his family are friends I have yet to meet.
