I am not through the entire book yet but I have implemented the supplements recommended. I have gone from an average of 140 -160 mg/dl per day to 125 -140 mg/dl. My post meal spikes have been lessened as well. I have tested this several times. One time I had a huge bowl of spaghetti. My post meal level was 145 whereas it would have been 160 or more. I also had a meal including rice, two sweet alcoholic drinks, break and a very sweet dessert. This same meal before saw my blood levels rising over 200 -250 mg/dl. This time it was 147. I am not on any medication and am using diet, exercise, weight loss and other measures to control my blood sugar levels.

This comprehensive guide is an excellent source of information regarding the different types of diabetes and the ways to prevent, combat and test for them. I love the all natural approach that stresses the importance of good nutrition and diet as well as exercise. It tells you the right foods and supplements to intake and the ones to avoid. With detailed descriptions, charts and other info graphics this book covers just about everything you need to know. It is well written and well researched and I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn more about diabetes. It is even more applicable to someone who already has been diagnosed with it, as it has countless remedies to help you lower your blood sugar without insulin or other medicines. Excellent book!

So thankful for this book. I've been having a lot of trouble managing MRSA and thru following this advice in this book (specifically about buying a glucose meter and testing my food), came to find out I was pre-diabetic. In 3 short weeks, I've lowered my fasting blood sugar level into normal and am now getting the upper hand with MRSA.I'm healthy, young, and very lean, so I didn't expect this would be applicable to me whatsoever. Knowing what I know now, I see that I would have inevitably become diabetic, and now I have tools to manage the situation. I'll never be diabetic. I've already recommended this book in my personal life and definitely encourage any reader to invest the time/energy into this book whether you think it applies to you or not.

Not enough guidance for newly diagnosed. Felt like waste of time reading. Being told to test, test, test, doesn’t do the trick for me

Pick the Plot A loud noise startled Owen awake, and he bolted up in fright, finding himself in darkness. The last few days came crashing back, and he squeezed his eyes shut. Wherever he was, he didn’t want to know. There were too many bad possibilities and not nearly enough good ones. The bad ones: 1. He was trapped in a book. The last he’d seen Bethany, the Dark had defeated her. And then Nobody had thrown Owen into a Pick the Plot book. That meant Owen could be in a story where he had zero control over his own choices, with readers deciding for him. This was the worst of the bad possibilities. 2. He was back home, but Bethany was still missing. Maybe the whole Pick the Plot thing had been Nobody trying to scare him, and instead of a book, Nobody had sent Owen back to the nonfictional world. So he was now actually lying in his own bed, which was good . . . but there’d be no way he could help Bethany. Slightly less worse, only because at least he was safe in his own bed. 3. He was back home, with Bethany still missing . . . and Nobody had completely separated the nonfictional and fictional worlds. Depending on what that meant, this might actually be the worst option. As Owen had learned while stuck in a sort of behind-the-scenes comic book land, Nobody had been trying to permanently separate the worlds, and Bethany was one of the last portals holding them together. So if Nobody had found Bethany, then split her in half like he’d said he was going to . . . what would happen? What if Owen opened his eyes and discovered a world without books, without movies, without anything made-up? Would that stuff all just disappear? And would the fictional people on the other side be okay too? Not to mention would Bethany be okay, split in half like that? All in all, that was three good reasons not to open his eyes, right there. Owen squeezed them shut even harder, balling his hands into fists, before taking a deep breath, trying to calm down. Just because the bad possibilities were awful didn’t mean there weren’t still good possibilities. He should list those off too, just to be fair: 1. The last few days had all been a bad, bad dream. 2. 3. Okay, having only one good possibility wasn’t very encouraging. And things like this were never bad dreams. That was just lazy writing in books. Owen slowly lay back down on the bed, purposely not paying attention to how scratchy this blanket was, and how his blanket at home was definitely not scratchy at all. C’mon, bad dream. And then another loud, strange noise came from what felt like yards away, and Owen’s robotic heart began pounding. The sound had been a horrifying cross between a scream and a growl, and definitely wasn’t his fictional cat, Spike. He clenched his fists tighter, still not opening his eyes. Maybe the sound had just been some dog that needed to go out! Or a cat fighting something bigger, like a . . . a tiger, or a truck! Not likely, but still possible! Either way, there was no proof that he was currently trapped in a terrible book where readers could control his whole life. Nope. No proof at all. “I’m at home,” Owen whispered to himself. “Bethany’s at her house, and we’re both totally, completely fine. And soon Mom will be in to wake me up for school, because I slept through my alarm again, and she’ll yell at me for it, just like every morning.” A louder, more guttural roar erupted from even closer, and the entire room shook with its power. That was not his mom. Owen dug his fingernails into his hands, determined not to open his eyes now, no matter what. “This isn’t happening,” he whispered. “I have to be dreaming. I’m going to wake up back home, and everything will be fine!” SHOW OWEN WHO’S IN CHARGE. MAKE HIM GET OUT OF BED. Turn to page 76. LET OWEN STAY IN BED FOR A BIT. Excellent book for tweens! Clean, adventurous and captures their attention to where they want to keep reading!! Who wouldn't want that for their ten year olds? Depending on what you answer in the book, you jump to another section so you actually "pick the plot." Very unique!

I red this to the kids at work. It could be a little hard to follow even as an adult at times, but the kids really enjoyed it. We hadn't read the first three either (our theme this year is pick the plot), so that may have added a bit to the confusion.

My daughter loves this series. It was neat that this book was a little different than the others being a "pick your plot" I think she prefers the regular books more but enjoyed this one as well. She is anxious for the next one.

I ordered this book, as well as others in this series, for my granddaughter. She LOVES them!! They arrived in excellent condition. Shipping was fast.

It is kinda boring at the beginning but then kicks up toward the end of the first quarter. It is a good series and can't wait for the next one.

My son is LOVING picking the plot! He gets so upset when reading time is over!

My daughter loves reading these books for hours at a time, she says they're entertaining.

Once again Story Thieves didn't disappoint, It was amazing!! I'm usually not a fan of pick the plot books, but I definitely liked this one, and am extremely excited for book 5! The only problem was I went away feeling guilty for for accidentally killing Owen and Kara so many times, lol.

Coding is all the rage in our school district. Students do it during tech class, they take after school enrichment classes in coding, they code at home! This book will inspire budding coders to try their hand at this fun hobby. I love the illustrations and the back matter that explains the coding terms used in the book. I’m excited to see future books in this series.

This book is amazing. So many educational books just aren’t entertaining, or entertaining books don’t actually teach useful lessons.My almost three year old son wants me to read this one again and again.It introduces the concept of breaking big problems into steps, giving specific instructions, putting steps in the right order, using loops, and how once you’ve written code you can use it again easily.As a woman in tech with a male child, I especially appreciate that the main character is a girl, but the book isn’t girly or just for girls. It’s just shown as totally normal that there’s a girl coder.I hope they come out with more books like this!

This is a super fun story that includes basic coding vocabulary. I read it to my 4-year-old as well as to my fifth-graders, and it was a hit with everyone. The fifth graders loved learning a little bit about coding while enjoying a great story. They were fascinated to learn the author, Josh Funk's, background in coding, and loved how he combined his computer skills with his writing.

Great introduction to coding in a way that everyone can relate to, especially with summer beckoning to us!

IMHO coding will be a required skill in many professions of the future. So I wanted to introduce my kids to all the cool things coding can do for them. This story really caught my happy-go-lucky daughter’s attention. Thanks!

The author, Josh, also works as a coder. He does a great job of explaining coding through this beautifully illustrated book about a girl on the beach.
